I used my chisel to remove a good amount of wood where I found the red lipstickĪfter adjusting the opening, the lock was able to close fully. When I opened the door I could see wherever the red lipstick has transferred and I knew I needed to chisel that section down in order for the lock to be able to close. Then I closed the door and attempted to lock it a few times. I extended the lock out and put the lipstick on the lock wherever I thought it was hitting. I used a trick to fix this, and all I needed was a tube of lipstick and my chisel. When I tested it, the lock didn’t actually go into the hole. Unfortunately when I put the lock in it did not fit like it should. The reinforcement plate for the deadbolt didn’t fit the current opening either so I widened it the same way as before with my drill and chisel. I secured it with the mounting screws and tested the deadbolt fit in my current setup. To expand the recess a little I traced the outline of the plate and chiseled away material until it fit. Right off the bat I had a small fitment issue as the mounting plate was a bit too big. First I started off by removing the old lock and trying to install the Schlage deadbolt in it’s place. The install is pretty similar to most other deadbolts and only requires a screwdriver, a drill and maybe a chisel if you have some fit issues. Inspired by early theoretical works, various strategies have been proposed for alleviating dendrite proliferation in LMBs. These concerns are greater in rechargeable batteries that utilize other, more earth abundant metals such as sodium and to some extent even aluminum. LMBs are also limited by low cell operating lifetimes due to parasitic chemical reactions between the electrode and electrolyte. Large-scale, commercial deployment of LMBs are today limited by safety concerns associated with unstable electrodeposition and lithium dendrite formation during cell recharge. By replacing the carbonaceous more » host material used as the anode in an LIB with metallic lithium, rechargeable lithium metal batteries (LMBs) with higher storage capacity and compatibility with low-cost, high-energy, unlithiated cathodes such as sulfur, manganese dioxide, carbon dioxide, and oxygen become possible. Materials science, transport phenomena, and electrochemistry in the electrodes and electrolyte that constitute such batteries are areas of active study worldwide because significant improvements in storage capacity and cell lifetime are required to meet new demands, including the electrification of transportation and for powering emerging autonomous aircraft and robotics technologies. It compromises high energy, high power, and design flexibility for long cell operating lifetimes and safety. The lithium ion battery (LIB) in widespread commercial use today is a compromise technology. Secondary batteries based on lithium are the most significant energy storage technology for contemporary portable devices. Herein we report our recent efforts to utilize the XPS to gain deep insight about these interfaces under realistic conditions with varying electrochemistry involving RFB, LIB and = , However, accessing the deeply buried solid-electrolyte interfaces (which dictates the performance of energy storage devices) has been a challenge in XPS usage. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) - a powerful surface analysis tool - has been widely used to study these energy storage materials because of its ability to identify, quantify and image the chemical distribution of redox active species. Material complexities associated with these energy storage devices with unique electrochemistry are formidable challenge which needs to be address for transformative progress in this field. Wide range of energy storage devices, Redox-flow batteries (RFB), Lithium ion based batteries (LIB), and Lithium-sulfur (LSB) batteries are being developed for various applications ranging from grid-scale level storage to mobile electronics. In this study, technological development requires reliable power sources where energy storage devices are emerging as a critical component. ( 3 pole too but rarely a residential situation). Double pole breakers are required with a MWBC.Keep in mind there are a lot of Code requirements when adding new circuits. The installer would remove the 30A breaker and install a double pole 20A breaker and relabel the breaker to its corresponding loads. This is covered in the 2014 NEC 210.24 under the term tap conductors and it has very specific rules to follow.Īnother scenario is to take an unused 240/120 30A #10 4-wire ( two ungrounded hots + neutral + ground ) and turn it into a multi-wire branch circuit, MWBC for short. One common scenario is for a residence to have a 240/120 3-wire ( two ungrounded hots + 1 ground) unused range circuit feed two small 120V appliance circuits. The way I read your question was if an existing 240/120 was being unused, why is it not common to utilize it for two 120V branch circuits? Well, in fact it is common practice. There's no way to do it, besides a subpanel. Nope, the water heater's labeling and instructions require a 30A breaker. Okay, so hardwire both loads and use the 40A breaker. If hardwired loads provision more than 50% of circuit capacity, you can't have receptacles on that circuit. You can't put a 30A plug on a 40A breaker. That would require a 40A breaker, but now you have a problem. Let's say it doesn't require the 125% derate, so now you're putting 28.75 amps on one leg, and 31.75 amps on the other leg. In other words, the appliance uses all of the circuit's capacity, and is designed to do so. Code requires a 125% derate, which puts it at 28.75 amps, just enough to shimmy under the "30 amp" figure. Generally when you see a 2-pole 240V breaker dedicated to an appliance, the appliance is intentionally sized to use the entire circuit. Genetics: Some lucky individuals have naturally brighter and/or thicker enamel than others.Additionally, over the years your teeth accumulate more stains and tartars, causing them to darken and discolor. Ageing: As you age, the outer layer of enamel on your teeth wears away, revealing the dentin’s natural, yellow color.Dental Work: Procedures requiring certain dental materials, such as silver amalgam restorations, can produce a grayish-black cast to teeth.Children who take tetracycline and doxycycline antibiotics during permanent tooth development (before age eight) may experience intrinsic discoloration of the permanent teeth. Maternal use of tetracycline antibiotics during the second half of pregnancy may result in discoloration of the baby’s tooth enamel. Medications: Antihistamines, antidepressants and high blood pressure drugs can discolor teeth.Certain infections in pregnant mothers can cause discoloration in the baby by affecting enamel development. Disease: Diseases affecting enamel and dentin can lead to tooth discoloration.Poor Dental Hygiene: Inadequate brushing and flossing to remove plaque and stain-producing substances can cause tooth stains.Tobacco Use: Smoking or chewing tobacco can result in discolored teeth.Foods/Drinks: Coffee, tea, colas, wines and certain foods (e.g., potatoes, cherries, blueberries) can cause extrinsic tooth stains. In order to effectively manage tooth discoloration, it is important to recognize the causes. Weigh their pros and cons with your needs. Whitening and veneers are two popular smile makeover treatment options. Whereas extrinsic staining can be effectively treated using various whitening techniques, intrinsic staining may be more stubborn, potentially requiring alternative cosmetic treatment such as veneers. Intrinsic discoloration occurs in the inner structure of the tooth, called the dentin, when the dentin darkens or displays a yellow (or gray) tint.Extrinsic discoloration occurs in the outer layer of the tooth, called the enamel enamel stains can range from white streaks to yellow tints or brown spots and pits.Tooth discoloration falls into two main types: extrinsic and intrinsic. From whitening strips and take-home trays to whitening toothpaste and chewing gum, people are going to various lengths to achieve and maintain a white, attractive smile. Beyond the professionally managed teeth whitening options like Britesmile, Opalescence and Zoom whitening, people are employing new, everyday products in their ongoing struggle against yellow teeth and other forms of discoloration. In today’s appearance and youth-conscious society, the dull, stained effects of tooth discoloration represent a common dental complaint. A local realtor said they can probably sell it for $160,000. It’s in the process of being vacated and cleaned. I’m even afraid to walk in and see the mess. The home was purchased for $75,000 in 2005, but it was never kept up and it’s been neglected. It provided the foundations for jazz and swing, which rapidly outpaced ragtime in popularity. The popularity of ragtime continued to grow following Joplin’s death. For a simple example of a polyrhythm from a different musical tradition, the “Carol of The Bells” features a two – against – three polyrhythm. Inspired by African traditional music, this sounds as if two unrelated rhythms are being played at the same time, which is called a polyrhythm. The beats themselves remain accented, which makes the pieces driven and danceable. These syncopated rhythms are characterized by accented notes that fall on the up beat. His rags are classical ragtime, which developed within African-American communities, particularly around St. Scott Joplin’s ragtime pieces are perky and distinctive. Unfortunately, his opera Treemonisha was not produced during his lifetime, but his ballet type work, The Ragtime Dance, was put on in Missouri and featured a cast of African-American dancers from the clubs that popularized ragtime music. He composed over 40 rags during his lifetime! Joplin was a serious composer, whose operas and ballet suffered from a lack of critical attention despite their unique combination of classical and ragtime qualities. What are some popular pieces by Scott Joplin? While his most well-known works are “rags” (the name for ragtime pieces), like “The Entertainer” and the “Maple Leaf Rag,” he also created a ragtime-influenced ballet and two operas. As a part of this scene of clubs and piano bars specializing in African-American music, Joplin found success and made a living as a composer. Washington, which he worked to produce himself by hiring singers and a theater. During this time, Joplin wrote an opera about civil rights leader Booker T. The Maple Leaf Rag was so popular that these royalties gave Joplin a steady income in later years. Joplin earned a penny for each sale of the piece. Eventually, a lawyer helped Joplin negotiate royalties for The Maple Leaf Rag before its release in 1899. While in Missouri, Joplin began working to publish his music with companies. This bar was a crucial meeting point for ragtime players and composers like Joplin. In Missouri, he met Tom Turpin, an African-American musician and businessman who ran the Rosebud Cafe. What instrument did Scott Joplin play? During this time, he worked as a gig musician, playing the piano for nightclubs and shows and striving to get his work published. The young Joplin traveled eventually from Texas to just outside St. Julius Weiss chose to teach Scott for free, sharing folk and classical music with him. His next teacher was a Jewish man from Germany, a professor of music who immigrated to Texas. While Scott’s first music teachers were his parents, he was devoted to his musical studies and practiced after school, outgrowing the local teachers. Florence was particularly devoted to helping young Scott achieve his musical goals, and supported the family by cleaning houses after his father left. Joplin’s father Giles was formerly an enslaved person who worked as a laborer, and his mother cleaned houses to support the family of 6 children. His father, Giles, played violin and his mother, Florence, played banjo and sang. Scott Joplin came from a musical family and lived in Texas when he was young. Music was an important part of family life for the Joplins, allowing them to celebrate their lives and time together in the face of adversity. Check out this article to learn more about ragtime ! Whether he regarded it as popular or serious music, this style remained popular from the 1890’s to the 1920’s. To him, it was more than just peppy popular music. Scott Joplin held ragtime in high regard and elevated it to a classical form, like a sonata. It features syncopations and dotted eighth notes, and the name “ragtime” possibly comes from the “ragged” rhythms in the right hand. Ragtime is an accented and vibrant type of music primarily performed on the piano. Other well-known works by Scott Joplin also include The Entertainer, and his unique compositional stamp on ragtime is heard in films and other music dating to the early 20th century. His compositions would later spark the beginning of swing music, which later evolved into jazz. Maybe you’ve heard his famous piece, a ragtime gem released in 1899: The Maple Leaf Rag.
